Mindfulness Quotes

Echart Tolle:

All the things that truly matter - beauty, love, creativity, joy and inner peace - arise from beyond the mind.

Realize deeply that the present moment is all you have.

What a liberation to realize that the voice in my head is not who I am.

- Who am I then?

- The one that sees that.

All problems are illusions of the mind.

The primary cause of unhappiness is never about the situation, but your thoughts about it.

If your mind carries a heavy burden of past, you will experience more of the same. The past perpetuates itself through lack of presence. The quality of your consciousness at this moment, is what shapes the future. Whatever you fight, you strengthen and what you resist persists.

You have a treasure within you that is infinitely greater than anything the world can offer.

Life isn't as serious as the mind makes it out to be.

Acknowledging the good that you already have in your life, is the foundation for all abundance.

Negative states of mind, such as anger, resentment, fear, envy and jealousy, are products of the ego.

What you react to in others, you strengthens in your self.

The past have no power over the present moment - you  have.

The most vital thing in spiritual life is to be able to watch your mind, to be the observer of the mind, so that the mind is not controlling you.

Your primary cause of unhappiness is never the situation, but your thoughts about it. Whatever you fight, you will strengthen, and what you resist, persist.

Knowing yourself is to be rooted in Being, instead of lost in your mind.

Your perception of the world is a reflection of your state of consciousness. You are not separate from it, and there is no objective world out there. Every moment, your consciousness creates the world that you inhabit.”

Jon Kabat-Zinn:

Mindfulness is about beeing fully awake in our life.

Mindfulness is about love and loving life. When you cultivate this love, it gives you clarity and compassion for life, and your actions happens in accordance to that.

If we are honest with ourselves, most of us will have to admit that we live out our lives in an ocean of fear.

Mindfulness is a way of befriending ourselves and our experience.

You can’t stop the waves, but you can learn to surf.

Give yourself permission to allow this moment to be exactly as it is, and allow yourself to be exactly as you are.

The best way to capture moments is to pay attention. This is how we cultivate mindfulness.

One practical way to do this is to look at other people and ask yourself if you are really seeing them or just your thoughts about them.

Simply put, mindfulness is moment-to-moment non-judgmental awareness.

Thich Nhat Hanh:

You have to realize that happiness is not something you find at the end of the road. You have to understand that it is her now - in the present moment.

Awareness is like the sun. When it shines on things, they are transformed.

To think in terms of either pessimism or optimism oversimplifies the truth. The problem is to see reality as it is.

The feeling that any task is a nuisance will soon disappear if it is done in mindfulness.

Many people are alive but don’t touch the miracle of being alive.

To be beautiful means to be yourself. You don't need to be accepted by others. You need to accept yourself.

The present moment is filled with joy and happiness. If you are attentive, you will see it.

The best way to take care of the future, is to take care of the present moment.

Mindfulness helps you fall in love with the ordinary.

When we are mindful, deeply in touch with the present moment, our understanding of what is going on deepens, and we begin to be filled with acceptance, joy, peace and love.

The seeds that are watered frequently, are the seeds that will grow strong.

We are here to awaken from the dream of separateness.

Pema Chödrön:

You are the sky. Everything else is just the weather.

Nothing ever goes away until it has taught us what we need to know.

The most fundamental aggression to ourselves, the most fundamental harm we can do to ourselves, is to remain ignorant by not having the courage and the respect to look at ourselves honestly and gently.

Meditation practice isn’t about trying to throw ourselves away and become something better. It’s about befriending who we are already.

When we resist change, it's called suffering.

The essence of bravery is being without self-deception.

Compassion becomes real when we recognize our shared humanity.

If someone comes along and shoots an arrow into your heart, it’s fruitless to stand there and yell at the person. It would be much better to turn your attention to the fact that there’s an arrow in your heart.

The Ego seeks to divide and separate. Spirit seeks to unify and heal.

The future is completely open, and we writing it moment to moment.

What we call obstacles, are really the way the world and our entire experience teach us where we are stuck.

Just where you are, that's the place to start.

Jack Kornfield:

Wisdom says we are nothing. Love says we are everything. Between these two our life flows.

Attention to the human body brings healing and regeneration. Through awareness of the body, we remember who we really are.

In the end, just three things matter; How well we have lived, how well we have loved, and how well we have learned to let go.

We must especially learn the art of directing Mindfulness into the closed areas of our life.

Great pain when it's honored from the heart, opens into great understanding.

The wholeness and freedom we seek, is our true nature, who we really are.

Have respect for yourself, and patience and compassion. With these you can handle anything.

What we seek, is what we are.

Buddha:

The mind is like water. When it's turbulent, it's difficult to see. When it's calm, everything becomes clear.

Don't rush anything. When the time is right, it will happen.

You only loose what you cling to.

Every experience, no matter how bad it seems, holds within it a blessing of some kind. The goal is to find it. Buddha

Peace comes from within. Do not seek it without.

Happiness will never come to those who fail to appreciate what they already have.

Our life is shaped by our mind, for we become what we think.

If the problem can be solved why worry? If the problem cannot be solved worrying will do you no good.

Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment.

There are three solutions to every problem: Accept it, Change it or Leave it. If you can't accept it, change it. If you cant change it, leave it.

Doubt everything, find your own light.

The root of suffering, is attachment.

Turn your wounds into wisdom.

Jiddu Krishnamurti:

The ability to observe without evaluating, is the highest form of intelligence. You are not your thoughts, you are the observer of and intelligence behind your thoughts. When you understand this, you are operating from higher consciousness.

When I understand myself, I understand you, and out of that understanding comes love. Through the process of self inquiry, you build empathy and compassion, both for yourself and others.

If you begin to understand what you are without trying to change it, then what you are undergoes a transformation. Take a gentle, honest look at who you are. See it. Understand it. Only then can you bring about change.

The more you know yourself, the more clarity there is. Self-knowledge has no end – you don’t come to an achievement; you don’t come to a conclusion. It is an endless river. Personal development is a life long journey, filled with ups, downs and roundabouts! Do not worry yourself in an attempt to figure life out completely, you never will.

If we can really understand the problem, the answer will come out of it, because the answer is not separate from the problem. Look deeply, the solution to every problem, lies in the problem itself.

The moment you have in your heart this extraordinary thing called love and feel the depth, the delight, the ecstasy of it, you will discover that for you the world is transformed. Love changes everything. When you love someone or something, you are connected with all that is.

One is never afraid of the unknown; one is afraid of the known coming to an end.

Humans are creatures of comfort, we love to know the what, where and how of things. Learning to release this obsession creates the lightness and freedom in your life that you crave.

Adyashanti

When the mind ceases all imagination, there arises a crystalline truth so real and concrete that the world seems dreamlike in comparison.

Silence and stillness are not dependent on the mind being silent. There is a deeper silence and stillness in you.

The biggest embrace of love you'll ever make is to embrace yourself completely. Then you'll realize you've just embraced the whole universe, and everything and everybody in it.

We think that we resist certain states because they are there, but actually they are there because we resist them.

Awakening is the end of seeking, the end of the seeker, but it is the beginning of a life lived from your true nature.

What would happen if you were to allow everything to be exactly as it is? If you gave up the need for control, and instead embraced the whole of your experience in each moment that arose?

True Meditation is the space in which everything gets revealed, everything gets seen, everything gets experienced.

True meditation is not about mastering a technique; it's about letting go of control.

All that is necessary to awaken to yourself as the radiant emptiness of spirit, is to stop seeking something more or better or different, and to turn your attention inward to the awake silence that you are.

One can't find true, lasting happiness outside of one selves.

To have enough curiosity to start to question your deepest identity, is absolutely vital and essential to spiritual awakening, and to the realization of peace and freedom.

When we come to the realization that we are not this identity that the mind has created, but we're actually spirit, at that moment spirit has become conscious of itself.

When we identify with egoic consciousness, we go unconscious or become unaware of our true nature as conscious spirit. Suffering is caused by identification with the egoic consciousness.

Love is the destruction of all that is false and the fulfillment of all that is true.

A total acceptance of yourself brings about a total transcendence of yourself.

The more in harmony you are with the flow of your own existence, the more magical life becomes.

Take the armor off, so the arrow of the Truth can penetrate you.

The paradox is that when resistance is fully accepted, the resistance disappears.

Enlightenment is a destructive process. It has nothing to do with becoming better or being happier. Enlightenment is the crumbling away of untruth. It’s seeing through the facade of pretense. It’s the complete eradication of everything we imagined to be true.

When you inquire ‘Who am I?’ if you are honest, you’ll notice that it takes you right back to silence instantly. The brain doesn’t have an answer, so all of a sudden there is silence.

As long as you are trying to become, trying to get somewhere, trying to attain something, you are quite literally moving away from the Truth itself.

Until the whole world is free to agree with you or disagree with you, until you have given the freedom to everyone to like you or not like you, to love you or hate you, to see things as you see them or to see things differently—until you have given the whole world its freedom—you’ll never have your freedom.

Anything you avoid in life will come back, over and over again, until you’re willing to face it—to look deeply into its true nature.

Stop seeking something more or better or different, and turn your attention inward to the awake silence that you are.
